Fertility Awareness Offerings
-
If you’re just starting out, I offer private, 1-on-1 consultations on learning to use sympto-thermal Fertility Awareness for contraception, conception, and general reproductive health. This is a great way to increase your body literacy, and dive deeply into learning:
how to optimize your overall hormonal and cycle health
how to use highly effective natural birth control
how to prepare your body for a healthy pregnancy and conceive more easily.
Private sessions are for people who have the capacity to cycle, alone or with partners if desired, and are currently offered online via videoconference.
This option includes:
3 to 5 (or more) live virtual sessions spread out over 3 to 6 months (sometimes more, if necessary), depending on your goals and time table
Unlimited email support & chart review between meetings, and for one month following our last meeting
Access to the many charts, informational pamphlets and how-to guides that I have created
As a special bonus, you will receive a coupon for 3 free months of Read Your Body, the only cycle charting app that I can recommend (read why in FAM FAQs)
The standard hourly rate for these sessions is $89, and in signing up you will be committing to a minimum of 3 hour-long sessions (if you are charting to avoid pregnancy, you will need 4 or 5 hours of instruction and chart review to get the full benefits).
If you are Black and/or Indigenous, please consider making use of my reparations-based discount. If you are in a position of financial deficit please consider making use of my pay-what-you-can sessions when available.

Already practicing FAM? Even experienced charters can really benefit from a session or two with a certified FAE to look at charts, go over the physiological processes involved in a cycle, get a refresher on the rules for avoiding pregnancy, or help optimize your timing if you’re wanting to get pregnant. If the package above seems like more than you need because you're already a somewhat-experienced charter, you can always just schedule a single session and we can go from there!

I teach group classes, in person and online, from time to time. Please see Classes & Events for details about upcoming offerings.

In addition to my private practice, I work as a Fertility Awareness Educator through Maven Clinic, an international telelhealth company focusing on reproductive and family wellness. If you have access to Maven’s services through your health insurance, look me up and you’ll be able to work with me without any additional cost to you!
What does the FAM instruction package cover?
Click on the drop-downs below to read more about what sessions entail, depending on what your overall goals are. Of course, any of these goals can be combined, and our sessions will be tailored to your needs.
-
In the first meeting, we will go over your intake form (which you will have filled out ahead of time), and discuss your general and reproductive health history and your goals for using FAM. I will then give you a comprehensive overview of the anatomy and physiology of the menstrual cycle (tailored to your current level of knowledge), the details of sympto-thermal cycle tracking, get you started with charting, and share with you several documents that detail the practice.
In our subsequent meetings, which will each be after you’ve completed a cycle or two, we will talk about how it’s been going for you and go over what you’ve charted so far in detail to make sure you understand all the various pieces of the practice. If we've identified any hormonal imbalances, we'll talk about what steps you might take to address them.
By the third or fourth meeting, we will be ready to discuss the specific rules for using FAM to avoid pregnancy to its most effective degree. I save this part until after you’ve been charting for a few cycles because it’s really important that you get to know your cycles and understand the what, how and why of sympto-thermal tracking before you actually start to use FAM as your primary contraceptive method. We'll also continue to talk about hormonal health, addressing any dietary or lifestyle factors, if relevant.
Most folks in this track will greatly benefit from a final meeting another cycle or two later to go over charts once you are actually using the method to avoid pregnancy. Of course you can always book as many subsequent meetings as you need to feel comfortable with the practice!
Throughout this time, I am available to answer any questions that come up for you via email.

Whether you are planning to conceive with a partner who makes sperm, or with donor sperm through insemination, tracking your cycles is the best first step!
In the first meeting, we will go over your intake form (which you will have filled out ahead of time), and discuss your general and reproductive health history and your goals for using FAM. We will start talking about how to best prepare your body for a healthy pregnancy, and how you can use FAM to tune in to your cycles and gauge your hormonal health. I'll give you a comprehensive overview of the anatomy and physiology of what's going on during your cycle (tailored to your current level of knowledge), and why optimal timing is super important. If you've already been trying to conceive and experiencing fertility challenges, we'll talk through what's going on, some potential causes, and what your next steps might be. Many people find that tracking their cycles and optimizing their timing is all it takes to get pregnant, but for others, deeper digging and addressing hormonal imbalances may be needed.
In our second meeting, which will be after you’ve completed a cycle or two, we will talk about how it’s been going for you and go over what you’ve charted so far in detail to make sure you understand all the various pieces of the practice and what's going on in your body. We'll continue addressing any hormonal imbalances, if relevant.
Our third meeting will be after you've completed another cycle or two, depending on your needs. We will again go over your charts in detail and discuss what's happening at each phase of your cycle, and continue addressing hormonal imbalances. If necessary, we will talk about potential next steps in working through fertility challenges, such as what labs or diagnostic tools may be useful, or how you might incorporate fertility awareness into medical options if you choose to go that route.
Throughout this time, I am available to answer any questions that come up for you via email.
What happens if you're trying to conceive, and you become pregnant before our sessions are over? Hooray! We can continue to talk about nutrition and having an optimally healthy pregnancy, or switch gears to birth and breastfeeding/chestfeeding preparation when you get closer to having your baby (I have experience in midwifery work, am a certified Lactation Educator, and have held a certification in Childbirth Education). I'll work with you to figure out how to make the most of our time together.

Even if you aren’t planning to use FAM to avoid or achieve pregnancy, learning to track your cycles is an excellent way to gauge your reproductive, hormonal, and overall health, get a handle on how to accurately predict your periods, navigate perimenopause, and more. There is so much to learn about our hormonal patterns from observing our cycle biomarkers, and anyone with the capacity to cycle can benefit from making this a regular practice.
In our second meeting, which will be after you’ve completed a cycle or two, we will talk about how it’s been going for you and go over what you’ve charted so far in detail to make sure you understand all the various pieces of the practice. If we've identified any hormonal imbalances, we'll talk about what steps you might take to address them.
Our third meeting will be after you’ve completed another cycle or two, depending on your needs. At this meeting we will discuss the various ways you can use FAM if your reproductive goals ever change, how to monitor hormonal changes during perimenopause, if relevant, or whatever else you need to know to make FAM work best for you and your unique situation.
Throughout this time, I am available to answer any questions that come up for you via email.
Why work with me?

I became certified as a Fertility Awareness Educator and Sexual/Reproductive Health Educator in January 2018, after completing the 2-year teacher training program through The Well School of Body Literacy, one of only four programs accredited by The Association of Fertility Awareness Professionals.

I’ve been successfully practicing sympto-thermal cycle tracking since 2008. I’ve practiced FAM to avoid pregnancy, to get pregnant (twice), and at this stage in my life, I continue to monitor my reproductive health and hormonal changes in early perimenopause.
I started teaching FAM in 2013, and became a certified educator in 2018. In early 2023 I began working for Maven Clinic, an international telehealth company focusing on reproductive and family wellness, through which I get to consult about fertility awareness with folks from all around the world!

I initially trained as a birth doula and then apprenticed with a home birth midwife, assisting at a dozen births, at home and in hospital/birth centers. After the birth of my first child, I focused my efforts on the education side, earning certifications as a Childbirth Educator (with the International Childbirth Education Association) and Lactation Educator (through Evergreen Perinatal Educators & Bastyr University). I spent 5 years as an active La Leche League Leader, providing lactation education and support to pregnant people and parents. While I am no longer actively teaching childbirth classes or providing lactation support/education, I am more than happy to include my expertise in my work with clients when needed!
My initial foray into the reproductive health field was as a volunteer abortion advocate with Planned Parenthood, and a few years working in policy and education with NARAL and the Feminist Majority Foundation in the early 2000s. Abortion advocacy has always been a big part of my work, and I have also trained in home abortion support and provision.
In 2022 I completed Nadine Thornhill’s Sex Educator Super Starter program, to jump start my transition into more general sexuality education. In 2022-2023 I was in the first cohort of the 9-month Gender Diversity Certificate Program, a joint effort between the Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling, and the TransActive Gender Project, to gain skills to better serve transgender, nonbinary and gender-expansive people in my practice.
